Doctor Complaint: Emergency Room - Manati Medical Center
I am a 63 year old heart patient operated 2 times for angio-plasma visiting Puerto Rico for the holidays. I was taken to this horrible hospital by my brother because a was dizzy, tired and very high blood pressure. Arrived at 8:50am on the 3rd of Jan 2012. Things went a fine, was attended and given a red or orange arm tag denoting that I was a high risk patient. Labs, xrays taken accordingly and by 1:00pm all results in the hands of the ER Medical Staff.
COMPLAINT: After assigned a bed at around 9:30am I was not monitored. My daughter request help many times. Nurse's station and ER Medical staff did not attend me throughout my stay in the ER. At 5:00pm my daughter asked a "pass by" nurse to please check my blood pressure and informed the nurse on my situation. No response. Blood pressure was very high. I drank one of my own blood pressure pills. At 6:00pm a Cardiologist was visiting the area and did not see me. Just passed by. At 7:15pm we left the ER room on our own free will after learning from an employ that my records having been in an ER doctor's desk since 1:00pm. My daughter went to see the doctor and she just said that she reported to work at 4:00pm and has many patients to attend. My daughter counted 4 records and noticed that the doctor was spending her time "bullshitting" with an employee from their maintenance room.
The environment in the Nurses's station was one of TENSE, DROOP EYES, and all employees seemed to not like what they wre "told" to do.
Information from other patients and visitors is that a that time or period the ER was around one fourth (1/4) populated.
