My beautiful 57 year old sister Diane went in for heart valve replacement surgery. The day of surgery he was 5+ hours late taking her into surgery which put her going into surgery at 6pm instead of 1pm they had scheduled. She came through the surgery into ICU for 24 hours, was in terrible pain but ok. They moved her to cardiac hall on Thursday. I visited with her Friday afternoon. She walked the hall with the physical therapist but was exhausted. I could tell she needed rest so I left around 5pm. The next morning as I was on my way back to visit I received a call from nurse saying call in the family Diane isn't doing well. What happened was UNBELIEVEABLE. The nurse was removing a drain from her chest which was attached to aorta and Diane bled out right there. They didn't have an available operating room so they rushed her into ICU and reopened her chest in order to stop the bleeding. Kincaid was not available so another surgeon patched up his mess but it was too late. Diane was brain damaged from the blood loss and her kidneys shut down. They kept her in ICU for another week. Meanwhile her family suffers watching this. Kincaid and I had a confrontation in the ICU when I stared him down while he was sitting around chatting it up with another doctor very casually while my brain dead sister lay 10 feet away attached to kidney dialysis sewn into her jugular and her chest sewn up twice. The only grace in this hell was when they finally sent her to the Pallative care floor and the nurses there were angels. They even cried when they found out about Diane's story. Everyone in the ICU knew he was at fault. You could tell by their demeanor as they worked on her. Her last words to me when I visited Thursday where of her love for her 17 month old grandson which lived with her and her desire for him to remember and love her as we had our own grandmother. More than shame should come to Dr. Edward Hal Kincaid for what he has done. He robbed us of years with our sister but he also robbed a precious little boy of a Grandmothers love.
