We had an extremely terrifying visit to the ER dept on Christmas night. My 2 year old went in with swollen lymph nodes the size of golf balls. They had swollen that large in a matter of 45 minutes. We were in the ER a total of 7 hours with nothing being done but a cat scan and my son was administered a sedative, which I wasn't aware at the time that it is something you never do to someone who's throat is closing. At 5:30 am the ER doctor informed us that he had called an ambulance from Childrens Hospital so that they could do a tracheotomy on my son! Childrens hospital did some extreme antibiotics and steroids which alleviated the swelling rather quickly so that my son didn't have to have the tracheotomy, Thank God. According to our ENT and Pediatrician the only thing that Centennial Medical Center did correctly was call the ambulance and have him transferred to a facility that knew what they were doing. Good luck if you decide to go there.

...wait until you get the bill (from centennial in Frisco). I went to the ER back in Dec because I having a reaction to corisone. They ran a few tests and I saw the doc for less than 2 minutes. Besides the hospital charges, I received an additional bill from the doc for around $600...with my PPO plan. The hospital is in my network. However, the doctors there leverage this fact (for now...wait until the AG and my attorney seek class action status) to make people believe the procesure are in network.

Most hospitals do NOT operate like this. It is very shady and highly unethical. The doctor did nothing and didn't even fix my issue. Instead he referred me back to the same office that caused the problem to begin with. Blue Cross also payed dearly for my mistake to chose this hospital. The hospital MUST be acountable and responsible for the actions of their doctors. I don't buy the independent contractor argument. Besides, for what he did (or didn't do), my after-insurance cost (for 2 minutes of a doctor's time) of $600 is unethical at best. GO TO BAYLOR or PRESBY instead!

My mother came to the ER at Centennial with internal bleeding (4-24-2010). I knew exactly what the problem was, and told them, but they ignored me. They did nothing at all for the first hour. After three hours, they figured it out (I was right), and transferred her to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where she died in surgery due to loss of blood.
