During the evening while at home I experienced a problem with my left eye. I saw a circular 'moon' effect. My wife did some on-line research and determined that the retina might be detaching. She called a 24 hour nursing service and was told to get me to a hospital quickly. We went to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, GA. They examined me in the emergency room and also did an ultra-sound on the eye. The male doctor did not see
anything out of the ordinary (unable to properly diagnose). He said to rule out a stroke I should have a scan performed. I didn't see the necessity but my wife thought it better safe than sorry. Of course we got the same results. We went home.
Within days the retina hemoraged during the day and I went to the local Eye Clinic, Marietta Eye Clinic who told me that I needed to have immediate laser repair to the retina.
The bottom line about the North Fulton Hospitalis this: They were not qualified to deal my issue yet they charged $3,760.00. That does not include the separate physician and radiology charges. Aetna would only pay 1,884.62 so they reduced the bill by 1,466.67. They billed me $409.41. Since I was unable to pay the whole amount at one time I made monthly payments for a total of $200.00. They called multiple times each day to collect. I did not answer. They turned the remaining $209.41 over to their Collection Company I suppose because I did not pay the full amount. I have not paid anything further.
I expect the hospital emergency room personnel is qualified to handle minor cuts and bruises but I could not recommend them for more complicated care. Plus turning over my account for collections even though I was paying is downright petty. If I had experieced any long term negative effect with my eye I would not have hesitated to file suite for Malpractice.

I have to say that this is one of the WORST hospital in the country. I was out of town when my 22 Y/O son was rushed there by ambulance after drinking too much at a party. I don't like what my son did but the treatment he had at North fulton was AWFUL.His nurse Kathleen from what his Godmother says was verbally abusive to him. That would be nurse Kathleen.He aws so sick and the 7 to 8 hours he was there he never saw a doctor. Please stay away from this PROFIT MAKING AWFUL HOSPITAL.
