Doctor Complaint: Laxman - Northeast Medical Center Hosp

I was taken to Memorial Hermann by ambulance on Sunday January 16th, 2011. I spent a few hours in the ER.I have congestive heart failure. I had extreem difficulty breathing and was in pain with every breath. I was told I needed to pay $350.00 so I could be admitted. I responded by explaing that if I was admitted taht the $350 would be waived. The person went to check this mater out and returned apologizing to me and telling me I was correct. I was admitted and stayed two nights. I was not told that I was being admitted as an OBS patient. Now I have found out that there is a different level of coverage by my insurance while being admitted as an OBS patient.. I am also being told that I signed a paper indicating that I knew of this difference. Please ...I was in pain, somewhat scared, and talking to a nurse about my medical history when this paper was signed if it was signed. I also had an injection of morphine I believe.

I should have been told by the hospital about the difference in coverage. If they have the time to approve me for admission, the hospial has the time to tell me there is a difference in coverage.

Thank you,
Gregg Jones
