Our mother currently receives dialysis at this location. We have informed the staff there on several different occasions regarding my mother's allergy to latex and informed the staff that most of the family is allergic to latex. We supply the center with latex-free gloves. However, ONE employee refuses to respect the severity of latex allergies and continues to use the gloves with attitude. We have taken time to try to inform her of this and she only makes unnecessary odd excuses. She does not listen. She has been working a different shift for the last few months. During that time, the center was a peaceful place with no employee with ugly attitudes. Now this trifling employee is back with the same tactics. She got angry the first time we asked her not to use latex gloves because of our mother’s allergy to them. Then a few weeks later, there was ONE latex glove placed into our mother’s lunch bowl that is labeled with our mother’s name and placed into her bag that she takes to dialysis each trip. Someone at the center did this intentionally. This woman, the tech, refuses to change to the latex-free gloves up to the point of touching our mother.
Today, we informed the head tech/nurse again about the latex allergy. She said that this was the first time that she had heard of this, but we have always informed them of this and from time-to-time, we still mention the latex allergy when/if we see any of the employees using latex gloves. Everyone at the center except ONE rude tech switches out to the non-latex gloves that our family supplies them with at each treatment.
This is not our first complaint, this is the first one we have put in writing because it is time for something to be done about rude people in the medical field.
Please make an effort to make not just the hospital latex-free, but the surrounding affiliated centers latex-free as well.
