Doctor Complaint: None - Maine Medical Center
This has been on going and reached a head today 06.14.11
Every time I go to an appt (or call), the reception staff has to know personal info as to why your there. If you call for any reason, your hold wait time is of at least 15 min, then you get a person at the "call Center" that needs medical info that they should not need (and have access to), then they say someone will call you back, no matter if its urgent of not, it could be 2-5 days before you get a call back. Then to be treated like you do not matter, and/or its an inconvenience for them to have to deal with you.
The Doctors are great, (and most MA's) but once the "other staff"(Reception, Call Center, Nurses, Supervisors) has to get involved its like a night mare, but with YOUR HEALTH.
The Doctor will tell a patient something, then the others do what they want, when they want, and god forbid they have an negative opinion (and they do) of a patient. Calling or communication with supervisors do nothing but get a patient belittled and told that the patient expects too much, and is of course to blame.
Scheduling is also extremely hard in this office. Call center is the worst, and do not call expecting to get a nurse, or Doctor on the phone, it won't happen. If you have a pharmacy problem, even with something a Doctor just wrote, you could wait 1-5 days for any response, and with certainty they will not get you to a nurse or the Doctor.
It would be easier to name the "good" people than the "Others".
It is shameful to think that Maine Med tolerates people, supervisors, and medical staff that treat patients like this. Medicare, Medicaid, and other Insurances should take note.
Lastly, they have the monopoly on medical and patient care in Maine, and the treatment of people at this location, and Falmouth location with call center/communication should be brought to someones attention.
The Doctors are separate from Hospital staff.
