Doctor Complaint: Er - Florida Hospital - Celebration
SENT TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE OF FLORIDA HOSPITAL***
To Whom It May Concern:
I am contacting you in regards to my roomate's recent visit to your ER. On 11/27/10 at around 1pm I took **********, who had suffered a fall earlier that morning to your location. She is disabled and has a degenerative disk problem in her back and she felt she may have hurt herself further from the fall. We waited for an hour to be seen (and this did not bother either of us although she was in a tremendous amount of pain). Once in the room, however, it took an additional 4 hours to be seen. I had been discussing in private within the area with ******* that it seemed to be taking far too long to be seen for her X-ray and several other people were sent to X-Ray that arrived after her - nor had she been seen or offered anthing to calm her pain. What appeared to be the head nurse eaves dropped on my conversation and immediately opened the curtain and indicated that four hours is "typical, acceptable, and we are doing an excellent job, so there is no need to make any comments or complaints." Her tone was confrontational and aggressive and I indicated that if I had intended to speak to her regarding my issues - I would have - but was having a private conversation with ****** behind the curtained enclosure. She then stated there could be no estimate as to how much longer it would take and she said that, "X-Ray is behind, and Ms. ******* will have to continue to wait." Furthermore, after being seen (finally) by another PA, this same nurse refused to allow ****** any food although she only needed an X-Ray and a shot of Toradol. I informed her that ***** was a Bariatric patient and she had not eaten in over 6 hours and this was not acceptable. She proceeded to inform me that they would then, "... be happy to pump her stomache out because she refuses to stop eating."
***I have NEVER had such poor service at any facility that I have ever been to and would advise a replacement of this nurse. She appeared Indian, with black hair (uncovered), and was about 5 foot 4-5. Other than this individual, the decor and presentation of the hospital was fantastic. May I suggest that more money be put towards paying for better staff rather than decorations, fancy architecture, and ambiance? Despite this nurse and the six hours it took for my disabled room-mate to be given medication, we will go back to your facility as long as this issue is addressed. Please look into this as it tarnished the overall experience and my friend suffered greatly because of it.
**** BE PREPARED TO WAIT AT LEAST 4 HOURS TO BE SEEN IN THIS ER - WE STAYED FOR OVER 6********
1/13/11 UPDATE
* In addition to the above information, this hospital is being reported to the State's Health Department and various other agencies because they did not file this person's medical records properly by putting incorrect information regarding their condition in the file. They refused to amend this problem although they were totally wrong. It actually looks like someone else's medical record was put into the file with *****'s name on it! Issue number 1.) claims patient gave a urine sample and did not 2.) claims patient was argumentative and was not 3.) claims patient had no lower back pain and did 4.) claims patient had no numbness in leg and did 5.) claims patient fell in a HOTEL and actually fell in the shower AT HOME...
THE LIST GOES ON. BEWARE OF THIS FANCY LOOKING HOSPITAL - THEY ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS AND YOUR MEDICAL RECORD IS NOT COMPLETED ACCURATELY*** WE WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN! Our issues were never addressed.
