Doctor Complaint: Brandon Watson - Advocate Trinity Hospital
My mother was brought to Trinity by Ambulance on June 14,2011 in respiratory distress about 12:00pm.Respiratory who is very familar with my mother's medical history of COPD/Asthma responded instantly with a one hour nebulizer treatment,she had to give her another tx because mom was not responding well.My mom was becoming tired and needed some relief with her breathing, the respiratory tech said she would let Dr. Brandon Watson know and ask for the BPAP machine. His responses was no.I went to ask him to come check mom because her heart rate was fast and the b/p was low, he came in to check her and explain her heart rate was fast due to the Albuteral and the b/p was fine.I told him she is breathing like she is on a vent, she was tired and she needed help.He turned to me and said "Is this what this conversation is about the BPAP ? I'm not putting her on the BPAP she has COPD and that is what I am treating her for".Very ignorate, unprofessional.She was admitted to the unit still needing some relief.At 3:00am I received a call from Trinity saying my mom was being transferred to ICU and being put on the BPAP machine 14 hours later.This is medical neglect.He needs to take a new course in customer service, professionalism,and how to listen and respect the people in their speciality fields ( especially when they are familar with the patient).
