Doctor Complaint: Roderick Kelly - Christus Jasper Memorial Hosp
On December 23,2011 I went in to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper,Texas because I had been assaulted approximately 30 minutes prior.(This is a completely different issue that I'm dealing with)I was experiencing pain to both my right shoulder and right hip.I was given a therapeutic drug to help ease the pain and then had xrays.Shortly after having the xrays I was taken back to Triage where I was given a prescription medications to ease the pain and a diagnosis of having only a "contusion".I was then discharged and went home trusting the Hospital's diagnosis.During that time the Radiologist confirmed the breaks but I was never notified while at the Hospital or even after I had left.Upon speaking to Mary Ann who is over the Emergency Department she claimed that no discrepancy had been sent over and it should have been.On December 26,2011 I had my husband bring me to the Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital at Fort Polk,Louisiana for a second opinion because I was experiencing excruciating pain.After having more xrays the Doctor on call confirmed that I had multiple fractures(clavicle,scapula) and contusions.The following day,December 27,2011 I was seen by an Orthopedic Surgeon at the same Hospital who showed both my husband and I the fractured areas.Because we are residents of North Carolina the Orthopedic Surgeon put in a referral to be seen by an Orthopedic Doctor here at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg,NC.He too confirmed the fractures after having me take more xrays and I'm still receiving medical treatment.I am to have a nerve test,surgery has been spoken of(due to an open joint) and my referral for Physical Medicine has been submitted as well.Christus Jasper Memorial has been investigated and I have personally spoken to Dr.Hall which is one of the Medical Directors.He was very sincere and made no excuses for the misdiagnosis and stated that it should have been caught!I contacted my insurance and two claims/diagnoses were submitted from Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital on December 23,2011.One for the "contusion"(that I was discharged with) and the other for the "clavicle fracture".Christus Jasper Memorial never notified me in regards to the break after the Radiologist saw it(after I had already been discharged).It wasn't until the second opinion that we learned about it.If nothing more,I need answers and help in regards to this situation.
