Doctor Complaint: Dr. William R. Pettey - Baylor Medical Center At Sw Ft.worth
Dr. Pettey came into my daughter's room and said things that were totally uncalled for. No one deserves treatment like that! First, she hadn't eaten her food and she told him that she just didn't like it. He replied that if she was at a restaurant and was offered a free meal he bets she would take it. He told her that she already owed him hundreds of dollars and if she had surgery it would be thousands, so how could she want surgery? I replied that Peter Smith was a good place. He replied yes, if you are shot or stabbed. He informed her that she should go to the county hospital and register for free services. Now the reason for him saying this is that she does not have insurance. He can assume she won't pay but he does not know that, nor should he assume. She does not want surgery and we only took her there because it was closest. He told her that they were required to stabilize patients but they didn't have to keep them. Okay, well why did they? I would have been less offended if they released her from the ER and told us they wouldn't treat her because she doesn't have insurance. Needless to say my daughter was in tears and all of this was in front of my nine year old great grandaughter. He was so bad that when he walked out she said, "I don't like that doctor, he was mean!".
