Took my 3yr old Son to this hospital beacause it is the closest to my home and at the time my Husband and I were unsure of how severe his wounds were(dog bite). We waited to be seen and when the NP came in he took one look at the bite, left the room (I assume he went to consult with an MD), and came back and said that we needed to take my son to Cook Children's Hospital. Now all this was fine but upon looking at my EOBs a couple days later I was shocked to find that they had charged out a whopping $1600 for this "care". Now I expected to pay a good sum of money for this but I never expected the charges to be this outrageous. I have gone back and forth with the billing dept. and now I am waiting on yet another response from a patient advocate whom at first said she could not help me. I feel that this hospital has taken advantage of my family during a very scary situatuion and I hope this can be resolved but , I work in the medical field and very disappointed with the entire situation. Would like to add that the DR charges from this hospital were DOUBLE what he physician that actually treated him at the children's hospital were.
