Doctor Complaint: No Doctor Involved - Loyola Univ Medical Center

This is an ongoing problem. Loyola University Hospital bills out of two divisions....for "facilities use" and for physicians. The bills have a slightly different name at the top and payments are sent to two different addresses. If a check is sent to the wrong address...even though it's made out to the right place...even though it encloses their OWN documentation that shows what one is paying...they don't forward it...they don't call the customer (which is what a patient REALLY is). They simply apply it to the oldest open amounts they show in their particular division and create an accountng nightmare for their customers. I've obviously had this problem. I've written letters...made phone calls and gotten no return calls...have only begun to straighten it out by a personal visit to the hospital.

No private company could operate in this manner. It is shameful.

Blind leading the blind......very poor hospital!!!!!!!
by CB1958 at Citysearch

I was referred to Loyola by Mercy Hospital in Woodstock, IL. Mercy, Mercy Harvard Hospital and Memorial Medical Center sucks too. I have been suffering from digestive issues for about four years now with no relief in sight, so far. Every year for the past 4, I've had surgery. Hiatal hernia, umbilical hernia, esophogeal distress and repairs, all results from acid-reflux disease. All I received from the past 4 years are "Band-aids" with no real solutions for healing my distress. Prescriptions simply don't work at all anymore for me. This was the reason for my referral to "one of Chicago's best hospitals", at least that's what I was told.

My doctor, Dr. LoSavio, doesn't seem to care about my well-being....ordering test after test, etc. Tests that I've had before at the previous hospitals in the very recent past. I also brought in all of my recent test results from the referring doctors and hospitals for their convenience which she didn't seem to review that much at all. She doesn't return my calls and I've been bounced around like a ping-pong ball. Yes, I'm still experiencing debilitating pain and I vomit daily....hopefully she'll find the time to respond with my test results before the month of August is over.

Very Lousy Health Care System and a big waste of travel time and gasoline. Sorry Loyola, you guys were supposed to be giants in your industry, however I know otherwise. Don't waste your time, energy or insurance on these guys unless you want to fall between the cracks with this so-called hospital.

Every appointment that I've had was more than a month between each visit....I hate the suffering. I despise their lack of professionalism and the fact that they didn't communicate with me. No patient should ever receive this extreme lack of expertise. Don't waste your time with this hospital. My rating would be no stars if this review allowed it....

AMEN to the above. I have paid THOUSANDS to Loyola for YEARS (even though I had Blue Cross insurance!). For tests, tests and more tests and am supposedly "very healthy." I was told I was "Completely paid up". Now 2 years later I'm getting COLLECTION LETTERS that I still owe cumulatively $1,400.00 from 2009 AND 2010?!! Loyola continues to uncover more and more bills for you to pay! If they can't even keep up with what we've paid, how are WE supposed to? You can't pull 2 year old bills out on people and demand pmt. They have NO CLUE how or what they are billing. I was told by one of their collectors that THEY HAVE TO ISSUE REFUND CHECKS TO PATIENTS AT TIMES BECAUSE PATIENTS CAN PROVE THEY DOUBLE PAID! Shameful indeed. What about the poor folks that don't know they're double paying? Impossible to keep up with.
