My wife was in the hospital for over a week at Watauga Medical Center aka as Watauga Hospital of Boone North Carolina. I was amazed that after the hospital staff insisted that she take a shower on her own, they didn't have a hair dryer in the hospital. I requested a hair dryer from numerous staff personal, including the nurse in charge who said that they would look for one but in the end, My wife had to go to bed and sleep with wet hair. Obviously, Watauga or Boone Hospital thinks that this is healthy for their patients as they said the entire hospital didn't have a hair dryer. I think it is ashamed that a hospital can't provide or afford the most basic item, such as a hair dryer, given the fact the bill was in the tens of thousands of dollars...

Even in Mexico hospitals, they provide hair dryers!

Sad -- Shame on you Watauga Medical Center!!!

Watauga Medical Center has poor billing practices as well. If your paying on a bill, they will still turn it over to collections agency. Instead, They try and force you into a contract stating that you will pay a high amount (which most of us) can't afford. Leaving us in the hole. No wonder america's credit crisis is in such a state of decline.

Watauga Medical Center doesn't care if you've got half your bill paid in a 4 month period - they'll still turn it over to a collections agency. They provide third rate care, at a premium price. Administrators are running this hospital into the ground, over the past 2 years. Karma will bite you in the ass.

Just DON'T go to Watagua Medical Center if you have time to get down the mountain! The care and especially the attitude of the nurses,doctors and staff is deplorable!! Emergency room staff is the worst I have ever, ever experienced! No bedside manner or empathy. Obviously they don't like their jobs there. The food is substandard-about what you'd expect from this area. Ditto on the billing as above. They are mean and nasty in the billing dept as well. Former patient-NEVER to return!

Watauga Medical Center is terrible. Back in April of this year, I went to them with severe, #10 pain in my right side. Watauga Medical Center's incompetent doctors said that I had some fluid in my lungs but the pain was probably kidney stones which didn't show on x-ray. Pain medicine was prescribed and I was released. 2 weeks went by - pain came back even more severe.. Watauga Medical Center claimed the pain as being a muscle spasm. Yeah right! - Pain meds and released again. 2 weeks later, I went back to Watauga Medical Center again. They were going to give me antibiotics and send me on my way.. My wife bless her soul, spoke up and begged them to keep me.. To make a long story short.. I ended up in Winston for almost a month. The fluid (that Watauga Medical Center acknowledged the first time) had abscessed around my lungs, inside my lungs.. I was almost killed by the incompetence Watauga Medical Center. Watagua almost killed me!!! Watagua medical center sucks!!! Beware of Watagua medical center unless you want to die!

Watauga Medical Center has poor medical services.

Impotent Watauga Medical Center doctors rip patients off.

Watauga Medical Center is the worst place to get medical treatment..

Watauga Medical Center billing practices are lacking professionalism.

Watauga Medical Center has doctors who obviously don't care about a patient and the extent of their injury

Stay far away from Watauga Medical Center !!!

Grandmother is on a oximeter machine which is motored at the nurse's station or "supposed" to be and its not it dropped to 75 and they did nothing in-till I went and told them


You could get better practice at your house then at WMC

This is not a hospital, it is a sad excuse for one. I almost died there, was assaulted there, had two surgeries go wrong there and etc. It has destroyed my life. Please if you can, go to another hospital. !!!!!
