Doctor Complaint: Er Department - Children's Mercy Hospital
I had taken my children to this hospital before and never had a problem. Each time in the past I was dressed nicely with both hair and makeup done. One time my son had fallen and got cut on the back of his head. He is a very active 6 yr old by the way. The staff said its not a big deal they get stuff like this alot. Well another son gets hurt and we go. This time it was storming out and my clothes were soaked so I changed into sweats and took off my makeup before the incedent. So we get to the hospital and I look very rough to say the least. This time they were not helpful or even polite. When they hear that I am a single mother of 5 kids and they are recieving medicaid, it was assumed that I abused my son. They ran numerous test and found only a few marks from my boys wreastling around and a rug burn on his back. They told CPS that the burn was a cigarette burn even though no one smokes. They ordered me to leave with out saying goodbye to my 4yr old son and I was informed that if I came back or had contact with my other children I would go to jail. They ran tests on my son all not with out my concent or anything. They found a genetic disorder that he was born with and put the blame on me. They withheld the med records from his previous dr that proved this defect, from CPS. As a result my children were taken away. My attorney and case worker have all the proof that my children were NEVER abused by me, but my children are still in foster care until trial. As soon as I told my friends and neighbors what had happened they all said the same thing. No low income family should take there kids there becouse so many have had faulse reports made. Being new to MO I didnt know until it was too late.

Please be aware of false accusations. Take kids to umkc to avoid this place.
