Doctor Complaint: Karin - Saint Marys Hospital
I have been using Mayo since a year ago when I had an ICD defibulator implanted.In general the care has been good but now my Insurance has rolled over to a new year in October and I am concerned about medical bills until my deductible is met.Since I had it done the staff there has done the occational download of the ICD condition remotely through the phone line and I went there twice for them to do it in person.
The one I had done on November 12th which they called to tell me they did I didnt think any thing of until this week .When I checked my mail
I had a letter from Mayo saying I would be billed for the download for
$178. A few days latter I received another notice of a billing for the analysis of the download for $326.
Now in the previous statements from the previous year any charges that
were involved with the ICD I thought had to do with prelimeary settings and adjustments to get itcustomized for me and felt it would not need to be checked any more than once a year and that that would be the responsibility of St jude (the manufacurer)and Mayo.When I called them on this they said they would be doing this 3-4 times a year.Since I could be looking at over $2000 for this service that I didnt ask for
I was shock to say the least. I may look into shifting my care back to Minneapolis medical personnel if this is an established program that Mayo follows.
