Doctor Complaint: Don't Know - Southern Regional Med Center
That is the poorest excuse for an emergency room I have ever seen. I have actually spent days in the ER on occasion. I swore I would never go back but my husband hurt his back and was in severe pain, so I called an ambulance. I knew they would take him to Southern Regional, but I thought that by coming by ambulance we would get better treatment. We were there about two and a half hours before we saw a doctor, all the while my husband was moaning in severe pain. Then when we did see a doctor, she gave him a very minimal examination and pretty much said "what do you want us to do?" They ran no tests, said they couldn't do an MRI on his back because it was too expensive (we have insurance), and gave him a small amount of pain killer. They gave him one before he left, but the nurse didn't bring it for a long time and when she did, she forgot water and it was another 10 minutes until she came back. We finally left three hours later and god knows how much poorer and he got no help at all. From this day forward, we will drive whatever distance necessary to go to a REAL hospital.
